Start the spring with sprouting. Sprouts are a healthy way to add crunch, freshness and energy to salads. To sprout start with garbanzo beans, lentils, mung beans, peas or broccoli seeds. For seeds no need to soak, just wet and drain them. For lentils and small beans soak in room temperature for 30 minutes the rinse and drain. Garbanzo beans and peas soak for 90-120 minute then rinse and drain. After rinsing pour the seeds/ beans and water into a sieve to clean them. You can use a strainer, cheesecloth or the plastic sprouting lid. Place the seeds into the glass jar cover with cheese cloth and put out of direct sunlight. Water and drain daily and watch the sprouting start. Sprouts are easy and fun to grow- enjoy in as few as 2-5 days! Nutrient dense and fun to do with kids!
